    Given that all the angles are right angles. So if we divide the given figure into two rectangles, and by using given data, we have:

    Area  of  one  rectangle=9×5=45  inchesArea\; of\; one\; rectangle=9\times5=45 \; inches
    Area  of  other  rectangle=6×2=12  inchesArea\; of\; other\; rectangle=6\times2=12\; inches
    ∴Total  Area=45+12=57  inches\therefore Total\; Area=45+12=57\; inches
